  • Accredited by The Joint Commission

    We have earned the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval indicating
    Methodist Health System has met or exceeded the highest level of patient
    care and safety.

  • Methodist Jennie Edmundson Receives Quality Award

    Jennie Edmundson Hospital has received 4-Star Top Performer Award from Professional Research Consultants for in-patient care.

  • Hospital Quality Alliance Participant

    Designates that a hospital has agreed to voluntarily submit performance
    measures for publication on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS)
    website. To date, 4,014 hospitals have volunteered to participate.

  • American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality
    Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP)

    The ACS NSQIP is a nationally validated, risk-adjusted, outcomes-based program to measure and improve the quality of surgical care. Hospitals participating in this program are involved in the following key components relating to improving the quality of surgical care.

  • Intersocietal Commision on the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) Certification

    Our Echocardiography Lab provides echocardiogram services. These ultrasound procedures provide a picture of how the heart performs at rest and with exercise. The lab also provides a transesophageal echocardiogram.

    Patients can rely on accreditation as an indication that the facility where their examination will be performed has proven a commitment to providing quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disorders and disease. Patients can rest assured that accredited facilities have been carefully critiqued on all aspects of their operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of echocardiography.

  • Intersocietal Commission on Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL)

    Our Vascular Laboratory has participated in this voluntary accreditation process. Patients can rely on accreditation as an indication that the facility where their examination will be performed has proven a commitment to providing quality testing for the diagnosis of vascular disease. Patients can rest assured that accredited facilities have been carefully critiqued on all aspects of their operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of vascular technology.

  • Sleep Disorder Center Receives Program Accreditation

    Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital's Sleep Disorder Center recently received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). To receive a five-year accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. The accreditation process involves detailed inspection of a center's facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training. Additionally, the facility's goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.

  • Cardiac Rehab Receives National Certification

    The Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital Cardiac Rehab department received national certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The AACVPR award places the department among the best in the nation for rehabilitation of cardiac events and disease. It provides patients and physicians with a benchmark of essential standards of care.

  • Methodist Jennie Edmundson Cancer Center Receives National Distinction

    The Methodist Jennie Edmundson Cancer Center received the prestigious Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the only cancer facility in Iowa or Nebraska to receive the award in 2010. Instituted in 2004, the Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes cancer programs that exceed the highest quality care rankings. Applicant institutions undergo a rigorous on-site evaluation which examines processes and performance in multiple areas, including cancer committee leadership, data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement. Only 82 programs nationwide earned the coveted designation, placing Methodist Jennie Edmundson's Cancer Center in the top 18 percent of the 432 eligible programs surveyed.

  • Tara Ruppert, OTR/L, CHT, Occupational Therapist, Receives Certification in Hand Therapy

    Tara Ruppert, OTR/L, CHT, occupational therapist at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, recently completed her certification in hand therapy. A graduate of Creighton University's Occupational Therapy program, Ruppert is now the only certified hand specialist in Council Bluffs. In addition to Ruppert's hand therapy services, Methodist Jennie Edmundson's occupational therapists have decades of combined experience in all areas, including, orthopedic, post-operative, neurological, pediatric, mental health, acute and sub-acute care. An emphasis on continuing education and close communication with physicians allows the team to offer their patients the latest, most advanced treatments and best outcomes possible.

  • Jean Armstrong, RN, Honored by National Safety Council with the B'nai B'rith Award

    Jean Armstrong, RN, manager of Family and Community Health Resources was honored by the National Safety Council with the B'nai B'rith Award. The award is presented to citizens for service to community safety, the award will go to Armstrong for her work to form and lead the Shaken Baby Task Force in Council Bluffs.

  • Tammy Johnson, RN, CBPN-C, Certified as Breast Patient Navigator

    Tammy Johnson, RN, CBPN-C, Methodist Jennie Edmundson Breast Health Center, has been certified as a Breast Patient Navigator. She is the first in the health system with this certification. As a Breast Patient Navigator, Tammy guides patients through the oncology care system, establishing contact with newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and directing them to health care services within the organization. She helps connect patients with resources, health care and support services in their communities and assists the patient and oncology physicians in the transition from active treatment to survivorship.

  • Michael Zlomke, MD, Honored by American College of Surgeons

    The American College of Surgeons has named Michael Zlomke, MD, one of the most outstanding cancer liaison physicians in the country. Dr. Zlomke has been instrumental in cancer prevention and care in Council Bluffs for many years. He spearheaded the development of the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital Breast Health Clinic in 2000.
